Available to enrolled members of Michigan Marching Band #126. New members of MMB #127 will be able to sign up in September 2024.
Band #126 registration deadline: May 31, 2024
Registration for students of Band #126 is limited to 225 people and will be closed if spaces fill before May 31, 2024.
The 225 student cap is only for Band #126, so if that quota is reached it will not affect availability for new students of Band #127.
Members of Band #126 MUST register by the May 31, 2024 deadline. When registration is reopened in September, it will be only for new students of Band #127.
Cost: $5,500 - in monthly installments ($250/month with the balance due in full by April 24, 2025) - Please do not pay more than $2,500 before October 15, 2024.

Munich, Bavaria’s capital, is home to centuries-old buildings and numerous museums. The city has a rich history of musical excellence. We will explore Munich’s musical landmarks and perform with the Polizeiorchester Bayern.

Innviertel, Austria
Located on the Austrian/Germany border between Linz and Salzburg, the Innviertel region hosts the "Woodstock der Blasmusik," one of the largest brass band festivals in the world. During the 2023 festival, approximately 80,000 fans witnessed 130+ acts across six stages, over four days!

Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany
Freiburg im Breisgau is a vibrant university city in southwest Germany’s Schwarzwald ("Black Forest"). It is home to the Freiburg University of Music, a premier institution for research and training in the field of music.

Ettenheim, Germany
Ettenheim is a small baroque town located on the foothills between the Black Forest and the Upper Rhine Valley. It is home to the Heimschule St. Landolin, which has the premier school band program in Germany. We will have an educational exchange and performance with their music students. We will also hold a performance for the Ettenheim community.

Strasbourg is the capital city of the Grand Est region of France. It sits near the German border, with culture and architecture blending German and French influences. Its Gothic Cathédrale Notre-Dame features daily shows from its astronomical clock and sweeping views of the Rhine River from partway up its 142m spire.

Salzburg is an Austrian city on the border of Germany, with views of the Eastern Alps. The Altstadt birthplace of famed composer Mozart is preserved as a museum displaying his childhood instruments.

Nestled in the fascinating mountains between the Schladminger Tauern and the Dachstein massif, Schladming is a popular holiday destination in winter and summer. Schladming is home to the Mid EUROPE Wind Music Festival, which we will be performing in on multiple stages.

Polizeiorchester Bayern
Joint performance with the Polizeiorchester Bayern. The Bavarian Police Orchestra is the professional symphonic wind orchestra of the Bavarian Police. It consists of 45 professional musicians from seventeen nations and sees itself as a link between the police and citizens.

Wind music with its many facets and genres, musical highlights and marching shows, open-air and church concerts, World Music and music from around the globe – this is what the Mid EUROPE wind-music festival has represented for an incredible 26 years.

MidEurope Lange Nacht
Five stages, countless open-air performances and shopping till late at night - during the Long Night of Music in Schladming, night turns into day.

MidEurope TATTOO
The “Schladming TATTOO” marching show is traditionally held on the Friday of Mid EUROPE week. A captivating musical atmosphere is also guaranteed before and after the marching show in the town center of Schladming itself.

Heimschule St. Landolin
Performance/ educational exchange with the music students of Heimschule St. Landolin. St. Landolin has the premier school band program in Germany, and its students range from both primary and secondary school ages.

We will put on a concert for the community of the charming baroque town of Ettenheim.

Altdorf Wine Festival
Tentative
The MMB plans to perform at the town of Altdorf’s wine festival. Altdorf is much older than the town of Ettenheim and is considered the original town center of the settlement.

There are two types of insurance available for this trip.
Travel Health Insurance: Enrollment in GeoBlue Travel Abroad Health Insurance is required for all students attending the trip: https://uhs.umich.edu/tai You may enroll in the GeoBlue insurance at any time before the trip begins.
Trip Insurance: Travel Protection is available through AdvantEdge Tours’ partner, Trip Mate. If you wish to have this coverage, you must enroll in their protection plan within 14 days of registering for the trip. You will be unable to enroll in the Travel Protection plan after the 14-day window has passed. You can enroll in this insurance on the trip registration form.
What is the difference between the two plans?
GeoBlue Travel Abroad Health Insurance is an inexpensive health insurance plan that can provide peace of mind and additional assistance and resources when traveling abroad. Your US health insurance is unlikely to provide coverage overseas.
Trip Mate Travel Protection is insurance for your trip. It protects your investment in the trip should qualifying circumstances arise that leave you unable to travel as planned.

Please begin the process of getting a US Passport ASAP. Apply for one by September 1, 2024 at the latest if you do not already have one. You should have your passport in-hand by December 2024 to avoid delays or complications.
If you do have a US Passport, please check it and make sure that it does not expire between now and January 13, 2026. US Passports must be valid for 6 months beyond the date the traveler will exit the United States.

No, this trip is not connected to a separate class or any U-M study abroad trip. However, you must currently or have previously been enrolled in the Michigan Marching Band during the 2023-2024 or 2024-2025 school year.
