TUBAS

The tuba section is a family away from home. The members of the section support one another in all their endeavors and bring hilarious energy to the MMB. Together, the tight-knit tuba section makes lifetime memories and friends!

Four rank leaders and one section leader make up the student leaders of the tuba section.

Prospective students are encouraged to reach out to their instrument’s section leader for the 2024-25 season to ask questions about auditioning or to learn more about their section and the ensemble. Please use the subject line “MMB Prospective Member Questions” when emailing section leaders.

WHAT IS THE TUBA SECTION’s favorite…

part of band week?

After First Look (first challenges of the season), we have a section dinner at Red Robin and see which member can drink most glasses of root beer floats. The current record is at 10 set by Maisey Schuler (Class of 2020).

rehearsal tradition?

We have walkie-talkies on the field to communicate between the left and right sides. Our radio call signs are our favorite type of milk.

social activity?

Fancy Applebee's (dress up super fancy and have dinner at Applebees), ski trip, Frankenmuth trip where we try to eat the most chicken at Bavarian Inn (current record set at 3.5 chickens by Henry Huelskamp 2019), camping trip.

game day tradition?

Hooked on a Feeling Hype Up: While getting ready and dressed for the game in the Wilson Room (Tuba Room), we play Hooked on a Feeling by Blue Swede and on the two big bass hits before "I'm hooked on a feeling," we bang on the walls/doors/tables/chairs/etc. as loud as we can
